Decline in hospitalizations related to COVID-19 continues in Quebec

Twenty-two new deaths attributable to COVID-19 were reported in Quebec on Thursday, while a sharp drop in hospitalizations was recorded.

There are now 1,902 hospitalizations, a decrease of 93 compared to the previous day. Of these patients, 124 are in intensive care, down from five.

The Ministry of Health reports 2055 new cases of COVID-19, a number which is however not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to certain priority groups.

Since the start of the pandemic, 906,629 infections have been reported, and 13,812 of them have proven fatal.

A total of 86,105 rapid tests, including 66,913 positive, have been self-reported so far on the platform put online by the government. For the day on Wednesday, 584 rapid tests were declared, including 441 positive.

The Ministry of Health reports that 20,576 analyzes were carried out on Wednesday and that Quebec posted a positivity rate of 9.8%.

The ministry also indicates that 91% of the Quebec population aged 5 and over has received at least one dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, 86% has received at least two doses and 50% has received a third dose.
