Shortly after being declared lifeless following an autopsy, an American woman suddenly woke up in a body bag.
It is a rather particular incident that the employees of a funeral home in Iowa, in the United States, have just experienced.
On the morning of January 3, 2023, while handling the body of an apparently deceased woman, the embalmers realized that the deceased was still alive.
This is how this woman, declared dead at the age of 66, woke up in her body bag, where she would have stayed for 40 minutes.
The salon then immediately called the emergency services, who were able to see that the body was alive and well.
“At approximately 8:26 a.m., funeral home staff opened the bag and found the resident’s chest was moving and she was gasping for breath,” an official report said.
Transported first to the hospital and then to a specialized establishment, the sexagenarian, who suffered from early dementia, finally died two days later, surrounded by her family.
When she was first pronounced dead at her residence, the person examining her had not found her pulse.
“She deemed the resident dead and notified the nurse,” the report said.
The nurse then noted that there was no sound of breathing or movement in the abdomen.
