The soap opera of the statue of Saint Michel in Les Sables d’Olonne continues. In front, there Administrative Court of Appeal of Nantes the public rapporteur confirmed on Tuesday the judgment of the administrative court of December 2021 asking the city to remove it from the public domain. He thus gives reason to the Vendée federation of free thought which denounced an attack on secularism. For the city, this statue installed in 2018 on the square of the same name is traditional before being religious. In March 2022, Mayor Yannick Moreau organized a referendum where 94.5% of the 4,593 voters supported maintaining the statue.
The decision of the Administrative Court of Appeal will be rendered on September 16.
