The health crisis has degraded the quality of life of many Canadians due to the rising cost of living, reveals the BDO Debt Solutions Affordability Index. However, Quebecers would have been largely spared.
A total of 43% of Canadians have added debt because of the pandemic, up 4% from last year. Of these, 26% contracted at least one new form of debt during this period. Seven in ten say this new debt has affected their quality of life and half say they are optimistic that they can restore their pre-pandemic quality of life.
