Natalie Portman and Francis Ford Coppola are among the guests of the 50th Deauville American Film Festival, which will be held from September 6 to 15, France Bleu Normandie reported on Thursday. The actress, who was unable to attend last year due to the Hollywood writers’ strike, will be in Deauville on September 14. Isabelle Adjani will pay tribute to her.
She will also inaugurate her cabin on the Deauville stage, just like the actress Michelle Williams, present on September 12, and James Gray. The director of Little Odessa and of The Immigrant is also due to speak to the public on September 9.
Francis Ford Coppola will arrive on September 13 to present his new film. Megalopolis. This will be the second time that the American filmmaker comes to the festival. Other guests include actor Michael Douglas, who will be present for the opening.
American director Sean Baker, twice winner of the Jury Prize at Deauville, with Tangerine in 2015 and Red Rocket in 2021, and Palme d’Or at Cannes this year for Anora, will come to present the Grand Prix of this 50th edition. At the closing of the Deauville Festival, it is the film Eventually, by Claude Lelouch, with Kad Merad, Sandrine Bonaire and Elsa Zylberstein, which will be screened.
The jury of the 2024 edition of the Deauville American Film Festival is chaired by French actor Benoît Magimel. Alongside him, actresses Ludivine Sagnier, Émilie Dequenne and Lou Lampros, director Agathe Riedinger, actor Damien Bonnard, musician Ibrahim Malouf, directors Elias Belkeddar and Martin Bourboulon.
