Death toll from COVID-19 rises to 25 in Quebec

Quebec reported Tuesday 25 new deaths linked to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, for a total of 16,069 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

There are 2,038 hospitalizations, including 686 due to COVID-19, a decrease of 19 from the previous day. In intensive care, there are 58 patients, including 33 due to COVID-19, a decrease of 3 from the previous day.

Health authorities are also reporting 1,243 new cases, bringing the total to 1,157,876 recorded infections. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority groups.

A total of 273,339 rapid tests have been self-reported so far, of which 228,598 were positive. For Monday, 236 were declared, including 198 positive.

As for health care workers, 4,199 are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation, or 121 more than during the previous report.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 8783 samples were taken on Sunday.

For vaccines, there have been 5,436 doses administered in the last 24 hours, for a total of 20,403,474 doses administered in Quebec.
