Thierry Mugler died at the age of 73 of natural causes. His unexpected death surprised his many admirers, both famous and anonymous. All have honored his memory and his illustrious career on social networks.
Thierry Mugler retired from fashion in 2002, a retirement that did not prevent him from collaborating with the most popular celebrities. Madonna, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Kim Kardashian and even Beyoncé have worn her archive outfits. Some of them are exhibited at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, in a retro entitled “Thierry Mugler, Couturissime“.
In addition to his unique style, Thierry Mugler stood out for his physique. The creator claimed to be the architect of his own body and had undergone several surgeries after a serious accident which had disfigured him. “My body is in perpetual construction“, he confided for example in 2017.
In October 2021, on the set of the show Day-to-day presented by Yann Barthès, he specified: “Let’s say that there were occasions, with the accident as much as possible, instead of going back to surgery to remove steel pins, I said to myself why not. Because it makes sense. I like to transform and arrange people. It is logical in my research of architecture.“
