“Annus Horribilis”, such was the Latin expression used by Queen Elizabeth II to qualify the year 1992. Today almost 30 years to the day! The reasons ? Celebrating the 40th anniversary of her accession to the throne, the Queen had to face many big personal problems that year: the separation of her son, Prince Andrew from his wife Sarah Fergusson, after the broadcast in the press to the scandal of photos showing her stepdaughter in the very close company of another man (not long ago, the queen’s son was seriously compromised and then covered in sexual charges linked to Jeffrey Einstein); the divorce of his daughter, Princess Anne, from Commander Timothy Laurence; the publication of the shock book by his daughter-in-law “Diana: Her True Story” which denounced the backstage of the Palace and the affair between Charles and Camilla; and, finally, the terrible fire that ravaged Windsor Castle, destroying countless priceless works of art.
The death of the queen: an international shock!
Today, the year 2022 does not seem more favorable to the British crown as to all of its people!
On September 8, an entire nation lost its queen. Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at her castle in Balmoral, Scotland. A shock for millions of people who believed it to be eternal, but also an incredible repercussion all over the world. More than a queen, a real head of state who had always defended with authority the values of the modern era. However, last week, the documentary phenomenon “Harry & Meghan” began to surge on the Netflix planet. Three first episodes considered quite tearful and which show above all the will of the Sussexes to take off with the heavy protocol of the Palace. They who, in any case, openly slammed the door, in particular by opening up shamelessly during an interview with Ophrah Winfrey in the United States where they reside. Three other episodes remain to be discovered and which promise to set fire to the powder… Across the Channel, this private unpacking in public is strongly denigrated. Another blow to the morale of the British, this Saturday, December 10, the English team so dear had to bow to France in the quarter-final match of the World Cup in Qatar. Coup de grace? Prince Harry announces the release on January 10 of his memoirs under the title “The Spare”, understand “The Replacement”. Strange fate indeed for this prince born to never be king.
