The defense began presenting its evidence with the testimony of the accused earlier this week. Their evidence, however, was not declared closed.

The Crown and the defense will then present their arguments in turn, and the judge will instruct the jury. The deliberations of the 14 jurors should then begin in camera.

The 38-year-old is charged with second degree murder and forcible confinement of the seven-year-old. The Crown attempts to demonstrate that the girl was wrapped in duct tape to the point of causing her death.
