Death of Sarah Shulze (21): the athletics star committed suicide

It’s the kind of news you wish you never read and yet the rising young athletics starSarah Shulze died at just 21 years old. A true star at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she performed as an athlete and cross-country runner, the young woman had a bright future ahead of her, but as the American media learned, she chose to kill herself on April 13.

It was the family of Sarah Shulze who made the announcement in a statement posted on a site dedicated to the young American athlete on April 15, as informed by NBC. “Sarah took her own life. Managing athletics, classes, and day-to-day life overwhelmed him in a unique moment of despair. Like you, we are shocked and grieved remembering all that Sarah meant”says the family in their moving message.

Sarah was a beloved daughter, sister, big sister, friend and teammate.

After the family, it was the University of Wisconsin which expressed its sorrow after the suicide of one of its athletes. In a long message posted on April 22 on its Twitter account, the university pays tribute to one of its most brilliant athletes. The University of Wisconsin and its community are heartbroken after the unexpected death of Sarah Shulze (…) Sarah was a beloved daughter, sister, big sister, friend and teammate. We extend our sincere sympathy and condolences to Sarah’s family, friends and teammates during this extraordinarily difficult time.”says the university.
