Death of Régine: Pierre Palmade devastated by the death of his friend, “I was in your little papers”

Born in Anderlecht in Belgium, Régine was of Polish Jewish origin. With her family, she emigrated to Paris in 1932 and then settled in cities such as Lyon and Aix-en-Provence. It was not until 1965, after having exercised several small jobs, that she found success with her first song entitled teddy. Since then, Régine has kept the young generation dancing through her music, such as Little papers, Patchouli Chinchilla, Azzurro or You will forget… taken over years later by another famous redhead: Larusso.

Some of the greatest French singers like Charles Aznavour, Serge Gainsbourg, Serge Lama or Henri Salvador then scrambled to write songs for him.

Owner of numerous clubs throughout France, Régine was also an outstanding businesswoman. In 1989, she launched her own range of perfumes and then published her memoirs in 1996. A few years later, in 2004, she ended up separating from all her clubs.

His latest album called Regine’s Duets was born in 2009. Always as passionate about music, she presents several duets there with her star friends such as Jane Birkin, Boy George, Maurane, Pierre Palmade or even Fanny Ardent.

On the heart side, Régine married for the first time at the age of 17 to Paul Rotcage, a textile merchant. Divorced in 1951, she met Roger Choukroun and married him in 1969. The couple divorced in 2004. Two years later, in 2006, Régine lost her only son, Lionel Rotcage, fruit of her first union.

For several years now, tired and weakened by her health problems, Régine had gradually withdrawn from the media scene. Today, music (but not only) loses a great lady…
