It’s been 17 years since the program “Love is in the meadow” has been broadcast on M6. Each year, Karine Le Marchand takes us behind the scenes of the lives of farmers from all over France, in search of love. In 2011, Jean-Claude Joly, a farmer from the village of La Frenaye, near Lillebonne, in Normandy, had participated in the famous program and had met a woman named Maud, already a mother of three children.
If the farmer had entered the hearts of the French thanks to his humor and his outspokenness, he had also stolen the heart of the mother. As a couple after their meeting on the show, they had also expanded their family and became parents of a little girl named Charlotte, three years after the start of their love story.
Jean-Claude Joly found dead
This Sunday, June 26, the newspaper Le Courrier Cauchois announced the death of the 53-year-old farmer. The father of the family hanged himself in the barn of his farm on the night of Friday June 24 to Saturday June 25, leaving his wife Maud and their daughter, now 8 years old.
Devastated by this announcement, Karine Le Marchand spoke on Instagram to pay tribute to him: “My Jean-Claude, words fail me, but not my tears. Thank you for giving me so much joy and affection to each of our reunion. You chose to say stop, so rest in peace. My thoughts are with Maud and your little Charlotte.” she captioned a photo of the farmer.
