Sad news for all sports and football lovers in particular since we have just learned of the death of Miguel Van Damme, the Belgian goalkeeper, who had been battling illness for years. It was his lifelong club, Cercle Bruges, who made the announcement on his Twitter account in the morning, indicating that the player at the club since the 2013 season had lost his fight against illness. Professional footballer who died aged just 28 was diagnosed leukemia in 2016. Since then, he has been fighting the disease alongside his wife, Kyana Dobbelaere, who paid him a beautiful tribute on Instagram.
Fighting admirably against this terrible disease, Miguel Van Damme led this fight alongside the one he married in 2018 and with whom he had just had a little Camille last May. On the player’s Instagram account, the player’s wife posted a very moving post that she accompanied with a symbolic photo of Miguel’s hand holding her daughter’s while hers is holding her husband’s. “Our darling left last night for his last game, a game that can no longer be won”she wrote in the preamble to her very sad message.
