More than three years ago, actor Mabô Kouyaté was found dead at just 29 years old. A tragedy for the 7th art and for the partners who had crossed his path in the film which had revealed him to the general public “Me César, 10 ½ years old, 1m39”. He would have turned 33 on September 1, 2022.

On April 3, 2019, the town hall of Les Lilas announced terrible news: the death of actor Mabô Kouyaté at just 29 years old. “Mabô Kouyaté has just left us. We are in shock at the terrible news of the disappearance of this talented lilasian artist, RIP MABÔ“, wrote Daniel Guiraud, the mayor of the city, on social networks.

Revealed in the movie Me César, 10 ½ years old, 1m39 (directed by Richard Berry, released in 2003), the handsome mestizo with blond dreadlocks and blue eyes had received several tributes from his former film partners. The director had entrusted his “immense pain“following the death of the young man.”Mabô, my love face. So good so tender. On edge. You couldn’t bear the violence of this life. Huge pain“, he had written in the caption of a portrait of the actor. Words which could imply that Mabô Kouyaté could kill himself.

The day after his death, actor Jules Sitruk simply posted a photo of the two of them from the movie, captioned with a broken heart emoticon. Also in the cast of Me, César, 10 1/2 years old, 1m39Joséphine Berry (who plays Sarah Delgado), also paid tribute to her former filming partner: “You are now relieved. May your soul rest in peace my dear and tender Mâbo. You radiated love, kindness, benevolence. I love you so much. I have no words to express my sadness and pain. Take care of the people you care about, tell them you love them. Life is too short to put things off until tomorrow.” A publication which also evokes a possible suicide of Mabô Kouyaté.

Indeed, Mabô Kouyaté had experienced very difficult events in his youth. Orphaned, he had lost his father Sotigui Kouyaté, who died at the age of 73 following a lung disease. The year before his death, his mother Esther Siraba Kouyaté-Marty had also died.

A drama for this young man who had several half-brothers and half-sisters, including actor-director Dani Kouyaté and storyteller Hassane Kassi Kouyaté. He was buried on April 18, 2019 in the communal cemetery of Lilas (Seine-Saint-Denis) with his mother Esther Siraba Kouyaté-Marty.
