The coroner’s report into the death of director Jean-Marc Vallée was released on Wednesday. It was a natural death, confirms the coroner, Mr.and Donald Nicole. The filmmaker probably died on December 25 of a sudden heart attack, a few minutes after arriving at his second home in Berthier-sur-Mer.

“Mr. Jean-Marc Vallée died of a fatal cardiac arrhythmia following acute thrombosis of the interventricular branch of the left coronary artery, secondary to severe coronary atherosclerosis. No writing expressing suicidal intent was found at the scene,” the report read.
Additionally, the report points out that blood tests revealed no alcohol or other substance contributing to the death. According to the police investigation report, no sign of violence, theft, break-in, or intervention by a third party was observed at the scene of Mr. Vallée’s death.
