Jean-Louis Trintignant, emblematic figure of French cinema and theater, died on Friday June 17, 2022 at the age of 91. Born in Piolenc in the Vaucluse and son of an industrialist, Jean-Louis Trintignant made a name for himself thanks to films like And God created the woman by Roger Vadim in 1956 or A man and a woman by Claude Lelouch – who was arrested by the police when he learned of the actor’s death! – alongside actress Anouk Aimée in 1966. He left behind a rich career of more than 120 films but also a grieving clan.
From his marriage to the director Nadine Trintignant – who paid tribute to him – whom he met in 1958, Jean-Louis Trintignant had three children: Marie born in 1962 and died in 2003 under the blows of her spouse Bertrand Cantat, ex – member of the group Noir Désir, Pauline born in 1969 and died at the age of 10 months and a son, Vincent born in 1973. It is the only child of Jean-Louis and Nadine Trintignant who is still alive.
A son following the same trajectory as his father
Very discreet in the media, Vincent Trintignant – also called Vincent Trintignant-Corneau because of his relationship between his mother Nadine Trintignant and the director Alain Corneau (died in August 2010) – followed the same trajectory as his father by being successively an actor, screenwriter, producer and director. Vincent Trintignant inherited his parents’ film career to discover film sets from an early age. In 1976, he made an appearance in the film The honeymoon made by his mother. It is with her in particular that he made his first experiences in the cinematographic career by playing in the films First trip in 1980 and Victory or the Pain of Women in 2000. He was also a co-screenwriter alongside his mother Nadine in The rebellious in 1996 and The blue island in 2001.
Extremely discreet, his projects seem to be rare or at least, Vincent is not the type to put himself forward when he does something. Last I heard, he made in 2013 Even a bird needs its nest and produced, in 2014, I remind you, you remember. Since then, radio silence…
On the family side, Vincent Trintignant-Corneau is the uncle of his sister Marie Trintignant’s four sons: Paul Cluzet (son of actor François Cluzet), Léon Othenin-Girard, Roman Kolinka and Jules Benchetrit (son of Samuel Benchetrit). All of them have the particularity of being actors like their late grandfather Jean-Louis Trintignant who passed on his passion for cinema to his family.
