This is news that will sadden all sports fans and rugby fans in particular. Known as one of the most violent sports there is, rugby is often the cause of serious injuries or long-term physical damage for players accustomed to taking very violent shocks for several years. Unfortunately, yesterday it was a completely different drama that played out on the side of Chartres (Eure-et-Loire-) during the training of the team, which evolves in Federal 1 (the 4th national division). Young hope of the team, James Theodore died Tuesday morning while the team was training.
According to information from the Écho Républicain, the 22-year-old pillar collapsed on the lawn, only a few minutes after the start of training, on the ground of the Claude-Panier stadium. Holder the Sunday before with his club Chartres, he could not be revived by his teammates who tried to bring him first aid. The firefighters intervened very quickly, but they were unable to bring him back to life. According to media reports, it would be a heart attack.
James collapsed in front of his mates during a recovery football game
“James collapsed in front of his friends during a recovery football game that he didn’t even have time to start”, club president Thomas Louis told AFP. In shock after this terrible disappearance, the latter has trouble understanding how this tragedy happened. “We had just had a fairly dense block of matches. Today was a quiet resumption of training, knowing that the team were not playing next weekend”he says.
The C’Chartres club, in which James Theodore played, expressed its sadness on social networks. “C’Chartres Rugby has the immense sadness to announce the death today of our player James Theodore. The Club, its volunteers, its teammates, the coaches as well as all the leaders join in the grief of the family. James was a very nice person”the club said.
