Death of Jacques Perrin: how had he met Valentine Perrin, his wife of 26 years?

Died this Thursday at the age of 80, Jacques Perrin leaves behind him an immense career, three now adult sons, but above all his wife, Valentine, whom he married more than twenty years ago. A wife often remained in the shadows, whom he had met several years earlier, during a television show.

Indeed, their story began at the time of The 25th hour, broadcast in the early 90s on Antenne 2 then France 2. At the time, the actor presented this cultural moment which was interested in different films, from all eras and in all formats. And its producer is none other than…Valentine, a young woman who began her career in the cinema and who alternates between the small and the big screen.

Indeed, she had started her career as an assistant director for Don’t wake a sleeping cop (1988), with Alain Delon, a position she then held in several other films including A great time by Gérard Jugnot or even Wild Nights by Cyril Collard, a critically acclaimed film.

In any case, the two lovers meet, seduce each other and end up getting married in 1995, a union which will give birth to Maxence, the same year, then to Lancelot, in 1999. Two young adults who have now embarked on the cinema alongside their father: if the youngest made only a few appearances, Maxence had seduced the whole of France by interpreting the little Pépinot in The chorists, in which Jacques Perrin also played. He also had a grown-up son, Mathieu, born from a first marriage in 1975.

Valentine Perrin continued to collaborate alongside her husband throughout his career: the couple had produced Mia and the white lion in 2018 and The Wolf and the Lion, last October. Happy and in love until the end, they have now been separated by life.

A prolific actor, Jacques Perrin held several emblematic roles, notably in Donkey Skin and The Demoiselles de Rochefortas well as in The chorists. His last role, in Goliath a short time ago, had been that of a scientist paid by the laboratories not to reveal their dubious practices.
