Died on January 19 during a vacation in the mountains, Gaspard Ulliel left the world of cinema well orphaned. Actor since his adolescence, the 37-year-old man has held several outstanding roles and has also won two Césars during his career. And the year 2022 should have smiled on him with a film that will hit screens in the coming months and a Marvel series scheduled for March.
He also had several projects in progress including a series, Tikkun, directed by Xavier Giannoli for Canal+. Accompanied by Ramzy Bédia and Vincent Lindon (who were present at his funeral), he was, according to the magazine Closer, at the beginning of the shoot, on which he had only done a few days. It is therefore impossible for the director to keep these images: Gaspard Ulliel will be replaced by another actor so that the project can be completed.
But who ? This is the whole question that has arisen for two weeks, while the actors are all still very shocked by this accident. According to information obtained by the magazine Closer, two men were reportedly approached, Pierre Niney and Benjamin Voisin. The first, very popular with his roles in Like brothers, Black Box Where Five, had notably interpreted the same role as Gaspard Ulliel, Yves Saint Laurent, in a competing project released the same year and directed by Jalil Lespert.
However, far from being in competition, they had repeated the respect they had for each other. Pierre Niney had even, on the evening of the César ceremony, had a word for Gaspard Ulliel, explaining that the common love of their art and their character was “the best answer to those who had wanted to oppose them” or simplify their two films, that evening in competition.
The second, Benjamin Voisin, is much less known and younger than Pierre Niney. However, he marked the spirits in Summer 85, by François Ozon, then Lost Illusions, by Xavier Giannoli, both of which earned him a nomination for the César for Best Male Newcomer. At 25, he is well on his way to a successful career. However, neither of them would have accepted the project for the moment: still shocked by the sudden disappearance, they would take the time to reflect before deciding.
