The Thursday before his death, the two men had spoken on the phone. Pierre Mailloux knew he was going to die. His medical situation had deteriorated rapidly in recent days. He was trying to recover from a serious infection that reportedly started affecting him before the holidays.
Doc Mailloux died two days before his 75th birthday.
