(Los Angeles) American actress Barbara Rush, who shared the stage with Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman and other big names of cinema in the 1950s and 1960s, and who later enjoyed a flourishing career on television, died Sunday at the age of 97.
The death of Mme Rush was announced on Instagram by her daughter, the journalist of Fox News Claudia Cowan, who wrote that her mother died on Easter.
Barbara Rush notably played alongside Rock Hudson in Captain Mysteryin the new version of The magnificent secret and in the 3D sci-fi classic The meteor of the nighta role for which she received a Golden Globe for Revelation of the Year.
She also played for Nicholas Ray in Behind the mirrorIn The ball of the cursed with Marlon Brando, Dean Martin and Montgomery Clift, and in This world apart with Paul Newman.
She starred in two films with Sinatra: You’re no longer in the race dad and the parody The Seven Thieves of Chicagowhich also featured fellow “Rat Pack” members Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
Barbara Rush, who had made a few appearances on television during her “movie years”, recalls fully transitioning to the small screen as she approached middle age.
“There was this terrible Sahara desert between the ages of 40 and 60, when we went from ingénue to old lady,” she pointed out in 1962. “Either we didn’t work, or we pretended to be 20 years old. »
