Citizen of the world who loves the blind tests of the 90s, she is passionate about heart stories with or without happy endings of French and international personalities.

A tragedy took place on the edge of the A430 motorway not far from the Albertville aerodrome in Savoie. A witness recounts the accident, believing that we were able to avoid a little “carnage”.

A drama that could have turned into carnage, such is the feeling after this impressive glider crash in Savoie on August 25, 2022, on the edge of the A430 motorway. The pilot and a ten-year-old child who was a passenger in the aircraft-type vehicle died. The facts took place around 1:15 p.m., not far from the Albertville aerodrome from where the aircraft had just taken off, according to the Savoie prefecture.

The accident occurred between the Saint-Hélène-sur-Isère toll access ramp, which is particularly busy, especially at the end of the school holidays. A witness, who lives not far from the place, recounted the tragedy on a daily basis: “I saw the glider pass over my house and its engine suddenly stopped. He veered to the right, dived and crashed really at the side of the highway. The crash was impressive. There was a big boom. I rushed to the freeway to stop traffic. Within a few meters, the glider could have crashed into cars. One of its wings also protrudes on the right lane of the highway. There could have been quite a carnage. It was limited.”

To allow the rapid arrival of help, the highway was closed and around twenty firefighters, the Albertville SMUR and the Dragon 73 civil security helicopter arrived on the scene shortly afterwards. Unfortunately, the two victims could not be saved by this shock which broke the tail of the glider and crushed part of the cockpit. An investigation entrusted to the Chambéry air transport gendarmerie brigade (BGTA) and the Savoie departmental road safety squadron (EDSR 73) is open to determine the precise reasons for this accident.
