(Quebec) An investigation by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is underway to clarify the circumstances that led to the death of a two-year-old girl on Wednesday in Saint-Georges, Beauce.

The SQ was called around 2:15 p.m. to provide assistance to the paramedics who had gone to the scene of a residence located on 10e av.
“On the spot, a young child needed medical attention and was transported to a hospital center. Unfortunately, the death of the child was confirmed at the hospital centre, ”confirmed shortly before 11 p.m. Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The latter specified that the child was inanimate during his transport to the hospital.
No details surrounding the reason for the intervention of the emergency services were revealed to the media or the nature of the child’s injuries.
“An investigation is underway, in collaboration with the coroner, to establish the causes and circumstances surrounding the event. As this is the death of a child under the age of six, it is the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Sûreté du Québec that is assigned to the file. There is also the Forensic Identification Service which is involved, ”said the spokesperson for the SQ.
An autopsy will also be performed on the child’s body.
No arrests had been made on Wednesday.
