According to a recent American study, air pollution spares no country and causes many deaths.
Air pollution has dramatic consequences. In 2021, it caused 8.1 million deaths around the world, according to an independent American research institute. More than 200 countries have been scrutinized and none seems to be spared. While everyone around the world breathes harmful levels of air pollution every day, children under the age of five are the most vulnerable.
More than 700,000 died in 2021. Fine particles are among the causes of these deaths. Around Roissy airport (Val-d’Oise), it is ultra-fine particles that are singled out. They are ten to 100 times smaller. The air there is as polluted as on the Paris ring road.
