“Dead End Garden”, Alexandre Désilets

A musical postcard, in a way. A bottle in the sea, too. Alexandre Désilets, who has moved his family and home to the Dominican Republic, sends us some pieces that are both danceable and pleasantly rocking, recorded with friends from here, including Jean-François Beaudet on elegant guitars and Robbie Kuster on rubberized percussion. Alexandre’s voice is wonderful, as always (yes, we missed his divine falsetto). Four titles are not too many for this tender reunion, where music and singing allow us to survive the cracks of destiny: “I have come to the end of my Eden / My paradise arrives at a dead end », chants the title song. Hope is there, in Recoverbut we must not say it too loudly: this is what reminds us Loving you softly. Our man may snort to the tune of Everything is perfect, he is wary: “I don’t want to change anything / I’m so afraid to move.” The music moves, it is its space of freedom. Good sign, he creates.
