At 23, Ugo Humbert will experience his first games and first emotions with the French team of Davis Cup. The Moselle tennis player has been selected from the selection unveiled by captain Romain Grosjean to compete in the competition which will take place between November 25 and December 5.
Ugo Humbert, 29th player in the world, will even have the honor of being No. 1 of the French team, in the absence of Gaël Monfils, not selected for this edition. Richard Gasquet, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Nicolas Mahut and Arthur Rinderknech are also selected.
Metz, however, has not been a good time since his return from the Tokyo Olympics. Eliminated in the first round of the Moselle Open, then on entering the Orleans challenger tournament, he should make his return to the court at the Rolex Paris Master 2021 (Masters 1000) on Monday, November 1.
“Until the Olympics he had very good results” comments about it Romain Grosjean. “The indoor is a surface that he appreciates, it is also a competition that he likes. He really wants to defend the colors of the France team, he is really very motivated.”
The final phase of the new Davis Cup brings together 18 nations over ten days, between Madrid (Spain), Innsbruck (Austria) and Turin (Italy), and begins with a group stage. France will face Great Britain and the Czech Republic there in Innsbruck.
