Data Breach | Sunwing delays persist

(Toronto) The widespread Sunwing network outage that has crippled the movements of several travelers and caused delays in connections to sun destinations remains unresolved, the airline said Thursday.

The Toronto-based company continues to recommend customers who are due to travel in the coming days to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Sunwing apologized for the delays, which are related to a data security breach at a third-party service provider, Airline Choice.

Sunwing employees are forced to manually check in passengers, since the technology platform is not working.

Sunwing said it was working with other airlines, including WestJet, AirTransat and Nolinor Aviation, to find additional planes to help ease the delay at some airports.

Sunwing customers continue to report flight delays and long wait times at airports in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.
