Darryl Reddick Jury Trial | Home robbery in front of four children

Four adults are talking in the kitchen late in the afternoon. Their four children are with them. Suddenly, two men break in. One of them points a gun. It was this terrifying scenario that was presented to the jury Thursday at the opening of Darryl Reddick’s trial.


“It’s real life. This event had consequences on real people. Real children. The victims will tell you what they experienced and the impact on their lives,” Crown prosecutor M.e Véronique Warthold in her opening presentation.

Darryl Reddick, 43, is charged with breaking and entering with intent, robbery and using an imitation firearm. According to the victim, Reddick’s nickname is “Manny Fresh.” His several-week trial opened Thursday at the Montreal courthouse before Judge Éliane B. Perreault.

According to the Crown’s theory, Darryl Reddick and an accomplice who has never been identified broke into the Montreal home of Justin Gorisky on September 2, 2021. Gorisky is not alone. His partner and two adult members of his family are there, as well as their four children aged 4 to 11 years old.

Darryl Reddick then points a – fake – gun at Justin Gorisky. However, he managed to escape and went to his mother’s apartment, in the same building, to tell her to call 911. The audio extract was also presented to the jury. Afterwards, Justin Gorisky will shout the accused’s nickname.

In the meantime, Darryl Reddick and his accomplice stay with the members of the Gorisky family. Still according to the Crown’s version, the accused takes a safe [safe] hidden in a room and handed it over to his accomplice who left the scene. Darryl Reddick will in turn flee through an alley.
