Margaux Sauvé and Louis-Étienne Santais, who form the Quebec duo Ghostly Kisses, return to us with Darkroom, a fascinating musical story. After opening the Box of Secrets (a digital mailbox inviting his fans from all over the world to share whatever they want, heartache, poem, journey, etc., with him) in July 2022, the group found inspiration by recomposing from these anonymous scraps a collective narrative on existence. Darkroom is thus a kaleidoscope with which Ghostly Kisses contemplates the other and plays with melodies as it sees fit, making its compositions evolve from one song to another towards a pop that is perhaps less nebulous than in its previous opus, Heaven, Wait. Ultimately, what emerges from the record is a sweet and captivating euphoria (Keep It Real, Ocean), who does not forget to sometimes flirt with depth (Silver Screen). Lovers of London Grammar will certainly find what they’re looking for!
