Dany Boon lets loose in the middle of an interview on France 2

Launched in September 2022, the show The Papotin meetings is a concept during which a group of 40 to 50 young people with autism spectrum disorders slip into the shoes of journalists during an interview with a celebrity, in order to sign an interview different from those that the we are used to seeing it, in particular to discover the guests revealing themselves on themes rarely discussed. This Saturday, November 4, 2023, it was Dany Boon who took part in the game.

The actor spoke about his conversion to Judaism, done out of love for his ex-wife Yaël. The star of “Welcome to the Ch’tis” also returned to his childhood, the opportunity to learn that the comedian’s maternal family did not accept his father because he was Algerian. “It was complicated [pour la famille de ma mère qu’elle se marie avec quelqu’un d’Afrique du nord]. I did not know my grandfather, there is a part of my maternal family that I did not know because when my mother met my father who came from Kabylie, from Algeria, they rejected my mother . She was pregnant with me.” he revealed.

The actor then revealed that he had tried to reconnect with his maternal grandfather, in vain. “I saw my grandmother a little in secret but it was very complicated and I didn’t know my grandfather. I went to see him when I was 14, I went to his house to see and he kicked me out… He slammed the door in my face. He wasn’t very, very nice.” he confided with sadness.

Grégory, one of the journalists then asked him a few questions about his celebrity status and his alleged wealth. “Do you work a lot? And do you earn a lot of money? Are you very rich?” he asked. To which Dany Boon, amused, replied: “I make a lot of money.” And Grégory outbid: “Do you have bosses, boyfriends, girlfriends, a lot of friends?” Dany Boon then retorted: “When you have a lot of money, you have a lot of friends.”
