Three Quebec actors are finalists at the French cinema Césars ceremony in the performance categories reserved for the best supporting roles.

Danielle Fichaud and Sylvain Marcel are named thanks to their performance in the film Aline, by Valérie Lemercier, where they embody characters directly inspired by Thérèse Tanguay-Dion and René Angelil. Xavier Dolan, for his part, was selected thanks to his presence in lost illusions, a film by Xavier Giannoli in which, in addition to playing a role, he provides the narration.
lost illusions, a sumptuous adaptation of Honoré de Balzac’s novel, is also named the big favorite in the race, being cited 15 times. Annette, by Leos Carax is named 11 times, and Aline, a Franco-Quebec co-production, follows closely with 10 selections.
The feature films selected in the category of best film are Aline, Annette, North ferry, The event, The divide, lost illusions and Onoda, 10,000 nights in the jungle.
Valerie Lemercier (Aline), Leos Carax (Annette), Cédric Jiménez (North ferry), Audrey Diwan (The event), Xavier Giannoli (lost illusions), Arthur Harari (Onoda, 10,000 nights in the jungle) and Julia Ducournau (Titanium) are in the running for the César for best director.
Presented by Antoine de Caunes and chaired by Danièle Thompson, the 47and ceremony of the Cesars of French cinema will be held on February 25 at the Olympia in Paris. In Quebec, this evening will be broadcast on the StudioCanal channel on February 27 at 8 p.m.
