Daniel Radcliffe suffers from a rare disease

The opportunity to return to the rare disease that has been diagnosed to Daniel Radcliffe a few years ago, well after the hours of success he experienced on the sets of Harry Potter. Now aged 34, the British actor discovered a few years ago that he suffered from a chronic illness causing him severe migraines, called cluster headache. In an interview with the tabloid The Independent in July 2022, the thirty-year-old had made this very rare illness official, benign but extremely painful, and which had only just been diagnosed to him after long years of medical wandering in the face of migraines which were crippling him.

Nicknamed “suicide disease”

“At the time, I thought I was a wimp. I was taking 12 strong painkillers a day and wondering: Why do I still have a headache ?” explained the actor, who must now undergo shock treatment to counteract the occurrence of seizures. Daniel Radcliffe must take anti-hypertensive medication and undergo regular electrocardiograms. In some cases, triptans, which are very effective against migraines, and oxygen therapy, may be recommended. Nicknamed “suicide disease” due to the violence of the crises which appear suddenly 1 to 8 times a day and which can last between 15 minutes and 3 hours depending on their violencecluster headaches can cause drooping eyelids, recurring nasal discharge, red and watery eyes, increased sweating caused by pain, as well as stiffness in the jaw and neck.
