Daniel Prévost: The death of his wife in the middle of filming “acted like a detonator” on the actor

Life is as sweet as it is unfair. It is not Daniel Prévost who will say the opposite. The actor, star of Dinner of idiots, had everything he had dreamed of in his life: a career at the top, both in the cinema and on the boards and a beautiful family made up of three children, Sören, Erling and Christophe, the fruit of his marriage to Jette Bertelsen. If all hoped to pursue their happiness in peace, fate decided otherwise. In 2007, on the set of the TV movie Mr Joseph, starring Daniel Prévost, the actor loses his wife. The latter, staying in a hotel in Lille to be with her husband, is found dead in the bathtub of her room.

The causes of his death have never been revealed, but what is certain is that this brutal break with the woman of his life marked Daniel Prévost forever. In April 2018, the actor published with the editions of Cherche Midi his novel You will never know how much I love you. A story in which a certain Daniel suddenly loses his wife and tries to move on and rebuild himself. If it is not an autobiography, Daniel Prévost was obviously inspired by his own experience: “This is not the story of my life but it is true that the disappearance of my wife acted as a detonator” he said in an interview with Figaro.

Taking up the pen and telling this story was a way of mourning and regaining a taste for life: “I needed to write to rebuild myself because after a tragedy, you need to recreate something. And this building permit, you will obtain it with your family, with those who remain.” Those who remain are his three children, but also Françoise, the woman with whom Daniel Prévost once again allowed himself happiness. He also showed himself several times on the arm of the pretty brunette during official events – their last appearance together dates back to December 2019 – without, however, confiding in this new story and this saving encounter. Out of superstition, perhaps…
