Damien Saez reveals his serious money problems

In the early 2000s, a whole generation of disenchanted high school students hummed the chorus of the hit “Jeune et con”. This song allows Damien Saez to experience immense success in France and propel the young man to the top of the Charts. This Thursday, December 29, he will be back on stage at the Zénith de Paris to record his new album, “Mélancolie”, live. The Savoyard confided in this performance to come to our colleagues from Paris.

It will be acoustic, seated, in guitar-voice. Most of it is new songs. But I don’t know how many. It will depend on the rehearsals, which are disturbed by my leg problems. From “Telegram”, I will sing only one title. And then on July 1, 2023, we will do another double album in the Arènes de Nîmes with a big orchestra. In 2023 there will also be a new studio album, I think in March, available as NFT (digital artwork). Then there will be a Zénith tour in November and December“, he explained.

Damien Saez also spoke of his financial difficulties inherent in the upheavals that have hit the music industry in recent years. “Music, today with paid streaming, is viable over six years. Record sales have dropped, if I sell 15,000, that’s good. I’m in debt… I’ve only been paying off debts for fifteen years. I don’t have the means to live in Paris, but I haven’t lowered the salary of the sound engineer and the musicians with whom I have the chance to work. It’s not a complaint, it’s a fact“, he indicated.

The singer also wanted to give news of his health: “But when we spoke, in December 2019, I actually had the Covid. Before it declares itself everywhere in February. I had a catastrophic end to the tour, because he turned into pneumonia. Two months later, I was still out of breath, with some asthma over the next seven to eight months. I caught the Covid several times.”
