The Minister of Solidarity, Damien Abad, was comfortably re-elected in the 5th constituency of Ain, Sunday June 19, during the second round of the legislative elections. The minister, implicated for sexual violence the day after his entry into government, was elected for a third term in the Assembly.

The former leader of the Les Républicains deputies obtained 57.86% of the vote under the various-right label, according to the final results of the Ministry of the Interior. He places himself in front of the Nupes candidate, Florence Pisani, who collects 42.14%. “It’s a clear victory, around 58%, which is even better than the first time I showed up here”commented the minister to the press in Oyonnax.

A little earlier in the day, two young women, topless, claiming to be Femen, demonstrated in front of the town hall of Oyonnax, banging on saucepans to demand his resignation after the accusations of sexual violence against the minister.
