The former Minister of Solidarity is the subject of an investigation by the Paris prosecutor’s office for “attempted rape”. He judged “preferable, in the face of the ignoble calumnies of which [il est] target”to be able to “to defend without hindering the action of the government”.
His passage will have been brief. “I leave this Ministry of Solidarity with a lot of regrets”declared Damien Abad, Monday, July 4, during the transfer of power to his successor Jean-Christophe Combe. “I will not have been given the time but until the end I have assumed my function as minister”he added, while he is the subject of an investigation by the Paris prosecutor’s office for “attempted rape”.
“I would like to warmly thank the President of the Republic for the trust he has shown in me from the start”said Damien Abad in particular. “I spoke at length with him again yesterday. It seemed preferable, in the face of the despicable slanders of which I am the target, orchestrated in a well-chosen schedule (…) that I could defend myself without hindering the action of the government”he continued.
“I will defend myself relentlessly until justice confirms my innocence.”

“I will also fight against this disastrous movement which relegates the presumption of innocence to the rank of unimportant old stuff and which makes slander a formidable political weapon in the hands of malevolent spirits”said Damien Abad again. “Everyone should measure the incredible violence for a human being, for a family, for loved ones of such cleverly orchestrated practices and too often relayed without media discernment.” He concluded his intervention with a quote from Montesquieu: “An injustice done to one is a threat to all.”
