(Dallas) A woman accusing Dak Prescott of sexual assault has officially filed a police report after the Dallas Cowboys quarterback sued her for an alleged US$100 million extortion attempt.
Dallas police said Thursday that an investigation is underway after a complaint filed earlier this week into an allegation of sexual assault that allegedly took place in the parking lot of a strip bar early in 2017. .
Prescott’s lawyers filed a civil extortion lawsuit in a Collin County court, north of Dallas, on Monday. Prescott denied the woman’s allegations.
According to the suit, the woman and her lawyers wrote a letter to Prescott offering not to file a complaint or publicly reveal the accusations if Prescott paid her $100 million.
A legal representative for Prescott met with police in Prosper, where the quarter lives, to say his client was a potential victim of extortion, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Prescott is seeking $1 million in damages. The Cowboys player’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, said he never had non-consensual sex with anyone.
“Sexual assault is a despicable crime that no one should ever endure,” prosecutorial documents read. The defendant’s false claims in this regard undermine the courage of sexual assault survivors everywhere, as well as the legitimacy of the horrific trauma they have endured. »
The woman told Dallas television station WFAA that the actions she accuses Prescott of allegedly occurred in the back of an SUV after she left the club where she worked.
“It’s a bit embarrassing to be honest,” the woman said. But I didn’t ask for that. I didn’t ask for this to happen to me. »
A lawyer for the woman has since said Prescott’s extortion suit was “a smokescreen.”
Prescott has been the Cowbys’ starting quarterback since his NFL debut, eight seasons. He was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016 and was invited to the Pro Bowl three times.
