The Dairy Farmers have requested authorization from the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) for a new increase due to inflation.

The group says farmers are “facing unprecedented price increases for the goods and services they need to produce milk”.

In less than a year, the price of fertilizers has soared by more than 44%, that of fuel by more than 32% and that of animal feed by more than 8%.

The CDC has indicated that it will hold consultations on this subject from June 13 to 15. A decision is expected to be announced around June 17.

According to demand, this price increase would come into effect on September 1. The producer price of milk had already risen by six cents per litre, or about 8.4%, on 1er february.
