Two years after separating, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo would have entered into negotiations with the organizers of Paris 2024, and could give their agreement, according to the information put forward by Thomas Jolly, since confirmed by our colleagues from Le Parisien: “It would be very happy if they were in this ceremony. We can’t not think of Daft Punk when we think of success and international exposure”. A few moments later, the guest indicated to Léa Salamé “(having) lied a little about Daft Punk”suggesting that discussions with the two musicians were no longer at the negotiation stage…
According to Le Parisien, the two artists met the organizers several months ago, without however finding a “formal agreement”. The file is so hot that it would be followed by the highest peak in the stateand the Élysée would push for Daft Punk to agree to meet up during the Olympic Games: “We talk. They didn’t say no, but they are tough in business”a source close to the matter told our colleagues. And to continue by indicating that this opening ceremony is “a huge challenge” for France internationally, which must involve French-speaking artists that the whole world knows… and there are not many of them!

Internationally, in addition to Daft Punk, David Guetta is the favorite, but other names like DJ Snake and Martin Solveig are also on the lips of the committee. Perhaps more surprisingly, artists like Jean-Michel Jarre, Zaz, Patricia Kaas, Mylène Farmer, Mireille Mathieu and Aya Nakamura are also a hit around the world and could grace the stage of this opening ceremony.
