New twist in the Candide Renard affair. Remember in May 2018, season 19 of the show “Koh-Lanta” was canceled due to a sordid affair of sexual assault that took place in the middle of filming, only four days after the arrival of the candidates for the Fiji Islands.
Candide Renard, participant in this edition and daughter of football coach Hervé Renard, had in fact alerted the members of the production in the middle of filming, of acts of sexual assault on her person. The young woman, aged 21 at the time, had accused Eddy Guyot, another 33-year-old candidate, of having attacked her in a tent, in the middle of the night.
The production of the show then decided to immediately interrupt filming and all the candidates were repatriated to France. We remember that at the time, some participants accused the young woman of having lied while Eddy Guyot always proclaimed his innocence. “Every night, I slept between a man and the wall of the cabin. Candide, she was further away. When the cameramen came back in the night to film us, I woke up and Candide was half on top of me. It was filmed and it completely exonerates me.” the young man assured the police upon his arrival in France.

Six years after the start of this affair and after a long investigation, we learned that Eddy Guyot was indicted for sexual assault. The case was raised this Thursday March 28, 2024 on the set of the show “Touche pas à mon poste” and Gilles Verdez was giving a concise summary of the case when he was cut off by Cyril Hanouna: “Candice Renard eh, not Candide! Her name is Candice eh not Candide, it’s down to one letter but it doesn’t matter, we’re not going to get pissed off about that” he said confidently. Gilles Verdez then tried to let him know that he was sure that the young woman’s name was Candide but the host would not budge. A few moments later, Cyril Hanouna who was obviously informed of his error by his teams in his earpiece, admitted half-heartedly to Gilles Verdez, that it is indeed Candide. “Candide eh… it’s Candide Renard! Candice Renoir is the thing on France 2…”. And Gilles Verdez shows his relief after being very uncomfortable: “Ah there you go! I should be more firm when I’m sure of myself but you’re troubling me…”.
