This Thursday, April 11, is a day of decorations at the Elysée. As is quite frequently the custom, Emmanuel Macron will present multiple decorations around the necks of personalities today, in particular the legendary Legion of Honor. The singer Sheila will thus be admitted to the rank of officer of the Legion of Honor, she who had already been named a knight at the end of the 90s. The comedian Smaïn will also be decorated and made an officer of the national order merit. And there is another media personality, star of the 90s, who will also have Legion honors: Thierry Ardisson.
In his capacity as host and producer, for television but also for cinema, the Man in Black will be honored for his decades of career. Enough to upset certain columnists from Cyril Hanouna’s team in Do not touch My TV !Thierry Ardisson was not really a friend of the house.
“Being a presenter is not doing the country a service”
In the April 10 broadcast, the columnists returned to this news and, as with each subject, gave their opinion, which was, to say the least, clear-cut. Valérie Benaim, Bernard Montiel and Géraldine Maillet first judged that this Legion of Honor was deserved for the 75-year-old host, who “a little revolutionized certain broadcasts in the PAF”with several formats that have become cult today.
But for Raymond Aabou, there is no reason to justify the award of this rank to Thierry Ardisson as well as to the other television presenters: “I say no because you have to do something good, not just because you presented The Millionaire, The right price Or Everybody talks about it. To have the Legion of Honor, you must have done something, you must have rendered service to the country. Being a TV presenter is not doing the country any favors.”the columnist raged, to the snickers of the public and Cyril Hanouna.
The 48-year-old columnist especially regretted that “ordinary” people were not decorated in the same way. “For me, the animators don’t have to have it, that’s categorical. Otherwise a guy who has made roads, why don’t you give it to him? This country is going crazy”, added Raymond. And that was all it took for Cyril Hanouna to add to the subject: “People will say that I’m a demagogue but the truth is that I would prefer a firefighter to have the Legion of Honor. I think he deserves more than a Thierry Ardisson, or a presenter, or me or someone else”he explains, certifying that he would refuse the decoration if it was offered to him, not “undeserving”.
A deputy blacklisted from the ceremony because of TPMP
It must be said that the animosity between Cyril Hanouna and Thierry Ardisson is not new. The two hosts have continued to insult each other through the media for several years. Latest twist to date: the guests of this famous Legion of Honor award ceremony! Because among the list of personalities supposed to attend this important moment was… Quentin Bataillon, the deputy subject to heated controversy a few days ago for his participation in Do not touch My TV ! and his criticisms of Yann Barthès a few days after his appearance before the commission of inquiry.
But after this lively controversy, which infuriated Emmanuel Macron, the deputy was apparently blacklisted from the ceremony, according to an SMS from Thierry Ardisson to Quentin Bataillon, made public by Cyril Hanouna. “You messed up brother! Hello Quentin, I imagine that you will not be surprised to know that following your performance at Cyril Hanouna, your presence at my presentation of the Legion of Honor at the Elysée on April 11 is not not desired. You should know that: ‘One does not dine with the devil, even with a long spoon’ (act IV, scene III). Talk about it with your new friends Cyril Hanouna and Moundir, they surely know”wrote Thierry Ardisson, mocked at the same time by the host of TPMP.
