Cyril Hanouna has become an emblematic personality of the PAF for a few years. The 47-year-old presenter is a hit every night of the week with Do not touch My TV, on C8. But if it is well established in the French audiovisual landscape today, it has experienced years of difficulty.
In mid-February, Cyril Hanouna visited the premises of Générations radio, for an interview on the program The Octagon. He thus returned to his difficult years, in particular his late departure from the family home. “I lived with my parents until I was 32. When I left, I felt like I left at 17. My mother she did like this: ‘That’s it, he’s going to leave for another life’“, he first remembered. This decision, he took it when he was recruited as intern at Comédie, a position he held… for three years. It was not until 2000 that he got his first job as a host on the channel. He co-presented The Big Show and the magazine Advertising is my great passion.
After a brief stint at France Télévisions, Lino and Bianca’s dad (soon to be 9 and 12 years old, born from his past relationship with Emilie) was spotted by M6 to replace Michaël Youn in the Morning Live. Unfortunately, the success is not there. “But it didn’t work, and I found myself with nothing. I had taken a small studio when I was at Morning Live. And it was my mother who helped me to pay. (…) I only stayed 6 months there. After I struggled for a year and a half. I was playing PlayStation all day, nobody called meit was a crazy thing“, said Cyril Hanouna.
These difficult years, he had already mentioned them in 2013 with the Parisian. The opportunity to discover that during his three years of internship at Comédie, Dominique Farrugia promised him each year to put it on the air. “At one point, I said to myself that I was going to stop everything and start again in chartered accountancy. I was at my wit’s end“, he had specified. And concerning his years of galley after the Morning Livehe specified: “I thought: it’s over. I had written a show and I was having a hard time. I was playing PlayStation all day… My mother gave me 200 euros a week, I had sold my car… The banker called me every day... A hard time.“A situation that prompted him to consider participating in The Celebrity Farm. But Emilie had dissuaded him at the time and he thanks her for it.
Since then, Cyril Hanouna has come a long way. Since 2010, he has been a hit with Do not touch My TV. A show that has only evolved over time. He was also offered to present New star (2012 and 2014 on D8) and he was in charge of several bonuses on the channel, which has since become C8.
The creator of H2O Productions has also had success on the radio, on Europe 1 in particular, with his show The feet in the plate. A nice revenge.
