Cyrielle Chatelain will now chair the environmental group alone in the National Assembly, after the withdrawal of the co-presidency of the group of Julien Bayou, accused of psychological violence against an ex-companion, learned franceinfo from parliamentary sources, Tuesday, September 27.

The decision was made this Tuesday morning during a group meeting. The MP for the 2nd constituency of Isère is therefore alone in charge of a group of 23 Europe Ecologie-Les Verts MPs in total.

Julien Bayou has also left his post as secretary general of EELV, but he nevertheless remains a deputy for the 5th district of Paris.

Julien’s lawyer denounces “political instrumentalization”

The ecologist is accused of psychological violence against an ex-companion. EELV MP Sandrine Rousseau talks about “behaviours likely to break the mental health of women”, but for the moment the precise facts of which he is accused remain unknown. No complaint has been filed and no judicial inquiry has been opened.

Julien Bayou’s lawyer said on Monday that he had tried four times to be heard by his party’s internal investigation unit but that he had been refused. Me Marie Dosé denounces a “political instrumentalization” whereas “the congress of ecologists is held at the end of the year”.
