(Hoogerheide) Canadian Isabella Holmgren became world junior cyclo-cross champion (under 19) beating her twin sister Ava Holmgren and Frenchwoman Célia Gery on Saturday in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands.
After a quick start from the favourite, the Dutchwoman Lauren Molengraaf (eventually 7e), Isabella Holmgren, 17, took advantage of her crash on the second lap to take the lead alone and finish 20 seconds ahead of her sister.
Third place was decided in a sprint, with the photofinish giving the advantage to Célia Gery over the Italian Federica Venturelli.
Two other races are on Saturday’s program: the Men’s U23 World Championship at 1 p.m. and the women’s elite race at 3 p.m.
