Cycling: Olympic champion Jeannie Longo receives 30 stitches after bike crash

The 65-year-old Olympic road race champion was taking part in the Prix Cycliste de Lentigny in the Loire region when she lost control of her bike.

Cyclist Jeannie Longo was hospitalized and received 30 stitches following a fall on Saturday, August 17, during a race in the Loire, reports France Bleu Saint-Etienne Loire. She injured her knee.

The 65-year-old Olympic road race champion (1996) was taking part in the Prix Cycliste de Lentigny in the Loire when, early in the afternoon, she lost control of her bike after hitting a pothole in the road.

Jeannie Longo had to be hospitalized at the Roanne hospital in the Loire.
