“Cycling”, Holobody | The duty

Montreal composer of Saskatchewan origin Felix Green (alias Luke Loseth, alias Holobody) offers a delightful third album on which a good dozen friends play, which says it all about the unifying nature of his work. In this collection of influences (avant-garde pop, folk, jazz, electronics), Green likes to take his time and install our comfort: folk cobbled together with atmospheric sounds of Drawing a Circle, reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens (without the melancholy), stretches over eight minutes; an old upright piano resounds throughout the nine minutes of the ballad Flower Moon, between classic 1970s pop and prog song. He also knows how to be jovial and rhythmic on the shorter ones, In the Sun evoking the sunny Animal Collective, more directly pop on summer Easy, with jazz trumpet and harp solo by Ourielle Auvé (Ouri). We have enough for an hour of baroque pop, smiling, intelligent, richly orchestrated, stuffed with unusual sounds. Our musical revelation of the beautiful season.
