The printing of 3D glasses, which is still a niche market, is attracting more and more people. Using this technology, customers create personalized eyewear.
Thanks to 3D printing, it is possible to create custom glasses, according to your face. Software measures the customer’s face to perfectly adjust the glasses. 3D glasses are still a niche market, but these frames have the advantage of being more resistant. The custom frames are then made in companies that specialize in 3D printing objects.
Quick time to market
“There are 88 parts in the machine, so 88 bezel fronts and these 88 fronts are all different”, explains Anthony Barré, Commercial Director, Sculpteo. The printing lasts five hours and a thin film of polyamide, made from castor oil and not petroleum, is deposited with each pass. “One of the major interests is the speed of marketing. To go from the prototype to the final version, we can do it in a few days, a few weeks”assures Anthony Barré.
