Skip Jennifer Jones scored a game-winning last-rock field goal as Canada triumphed 7-6 over the United States on Wednesday at the Beijing Olympics.

While two American stones were in scoring position, on the 10and and last end, Jones sent his just beyond the button, but close enough to the center to score the only point and confirm the victory for his troops.

It’s a third straight win for Canada, who improved their record to 4-3 to improve their chances of making the playoffs.

The Canadian team started the day in sixth place overall, tied with South Korea’s EunJung Kim. The top four teams advance to the medal round.

Jones will face China’s Yu Han later in the evening. Canada will wrap up the round robin with Denmark’s Madeleine Dupoint on Thursday.

The men’s quartet, led by Brad Gushue, was not in action on Wednesday.
