Curling | Brad Gushue’s side end the season with a win

(Olds) Brad Gushue ended a memorable season in the best of ways on Sunday by beating rival Kevin Koe 8-5 in the Champions Cup on Sunday.

It was the last edition of this version of the quartet of Brad Gushue. The second player, Brett Gallant, will join captain Brendan Bottcher next season.

Gushue, vice-captain Mark Nichols, Gallant and first player Geoff Walker represented the Maple Leaf at the Beijing Olympics in February. They got bronze.

They then took gold at the Brier and then won silver at the World Championships last month.

The St-Jean team took control against Koe by stealing three points in the fourth end.

The Calgary team threw in the towel in the seventh end.

In the women’s section, the quartet of Canadian Kerri Einarson defeated the quartet of South Korean Eun-Ji Gim 10-6 to win their fourth Grand Slam tournament.
