The Festival Fous de theater is preparing its 4e editing
Lovers of 6e art have an appointment from August 24 to 27 at L’Assomption for the 4e Crazy Theater Festival. On the program: a dozen shows and almost as many activities that will be held in different places in the Lanaudière municipality. The animator Émilie Perreault will present in particular in formula reading her first theatrical work, The consented suspension of disbelief. The prolific Simon Boulerice will present a comic reading of his novel geolocate love. The ingenious piece Mononk Julesby Jocelyn Sioui, is also on the programme, as is the disturbing show Hidden Paradiseby Alix Dufresne, acclaimed everywhere he went.
The Orientalys festival returns to the Old Port
The Orientalys festival is back at the Quai de l’Horloge in the Old Port of Montreal this weekend, with its joyful cocktail of performances, shows and workshops celebrating oriental cultures in all their forms. The kick-off will be given this Thursday with a great Indian dance show signed by veteran choreographer Roger Sinha, while Friday evening promises to be supercharged with Les Mille et un Mix, a unique event at Orientalys hosted by DJ Elie Bawab, Ganza and Sam. On Saturday, rising Moroccan star Zakaria Ghafouli will conclude the evening on stage, while Sunday’s final will be the affair of Algerian Amine Chibane and his mix of chaâbi, rap and gypsy jazz. .
Flore Laurentienne at the Théâtre de Verdure
Flore Laurentienne, an instrumental project by Mathieu David Gagnon, will be at the Théâtre de Verdure in Parc La Fontaine on Saturday, August 20, with its string orchestra and synthesizers. Klô Pelgag’s brother recently released a new piece, Sails, taken from a new album to be released on October 21st. The show is free; seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Note that on August 24 and 25, Les Grands Ballets will also take to the outdoor theater stage with a program that combines great classics and contemporary creations. Nearly 20 dancers will take part in the show.
For the rest of the world screened outdoors
The documentary For the rest of the world, by Pierre Perrault and Michel Brault, is among the list of films on the program for the last two weeks of the Montreal event Cinéma sous les étoiles, organized by Funambules Médias. This film on the life of the inhabitants of Isle-aux-Coudres will be screened at Molson Park this Thursday. A discussion in the presence of Mathieu Perrault and Jean-Philippe Pleau, host and producer at Radio-Canada of the show think aloud, will follow the screening. Street dance competition in Montreal
The Red Bull Dance Your Style Canada street dance competition returns to Montreal after a three-year absence. This Thursday, at Ausgang Plaza (6524, rue Saint-Hubert), dancers of all styles – from hip-hop to house to popping – will compete on the floor in a one-on-one dance battle. The crowd will serve as the judge to determine the winner of the event. The latter will win a ticket for the national competition scheduled for Toronto. Admission is free for spectators. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Haitian Book Day
On Saturday, August 20, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Center N A Rive de Montréal will host the 14e Haitian Book Day. In addition to a tribute to the historian Frantz Voltaire for his entire career and his work, a round table is planned for the launch of the book Haiti-France – The Chains of Debt, with author Jean-Marie Théodat. Readings of texts, photo exhibition and Creole delights are also on the menu. Note that bookstores in Quebec will also mark this day by offering a selection of Haitian books to discover.
